Maintenance tips

Stone on the rear axle
What is the complaint?
A noise in the back or something loose
What was the cause?
It was remarkable that a large stone had come to rest on the rear axle and that it made a scraping and ticking noise when moving the axle over thresholds, because it was wedged in between. Fortunately no permanent damage, but very annoying!

Is your tire going flat?
Is your tire going flat?
A wheel can deflate for several reasons. In this car, the paint layer of the rim came off, causing the wheel to slowly deflate.
You can test with a bucket of soapy water where your tire is going flat. Where the bubbles get bigger there is a hole.
Cable break
What do you think is going on here?
Tailgate lock sometimes does not work and tail lights work partially.
What is the cause?
Over the years, electrical cables become somewhat stiffer in the car. When cables are moved a lot in hinge points (in this case the tailgate), they can break off.
In this case we have neatly repaired all cables.
Replace interior filter
Getting sick from your air conditioning?
With this fluoride injection we can only detect leaks in the air conditioning system, but with timely maintenance of your air conditioning system you can certainly prevent yourself from becoming ill.
Are you serious?
Condensation in the air conditioning system is a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, and contamination is inevitable over time.
The result is reduced air quality and the risk of health problems (colds, irritated airways, sore throat, etc.), because this polluted air is blown in. With frequent air conditioning maintenance, you can be sure that you breathe clean air, that no odor is created by the pollution and that the system performs optimally. Because the cleaner, the better the cooling effect.
Air conditioning no longer cold or hisses?
The refrigerant in the air conditioning system decreases annually by 8% to 10% due to loss and evaporation. In addition, parts may be defective, causing the system to run empty.

Marten damage
What's the problem? Check engine light is on
What is the cause? A marten (animal) has crawled into the engine compartment and has eaten the wiring.
The following marten damage may be identified:
- sparking ignition cables
- leaking water from water pipes
- leaking oil, for example at the engine ventilation
- bite marks on the air filter box
- hissing sound from the intake duct
- leaking grease from the axle boots
How can you prevent this?
There is much speculation about marten control. Here are some tips to really get rid of them:
- dog hair
- cat urine
- urinal blocks
- deodorant spray
- rabbit wire
- High voltage system against martens
More information about martens:
Martens are small, funny predators. They fascinate with their mobility and are beautiful animals in themselves. Car drivers fear the night-time biters, because they can cause major damage to the engine compartment of cars. If noticed in time, marten damage is annoying but can be remedied. Unnoticed, a bitten pipe can lead to serious engine damage or even a life-threatening situation.
Multi-belt
We came across the following with a customer of ours..
What is it?: Multi-belt
What can happen?: Engine overheating, car stalling, no more air conditioning and in the worst case, permanent engine damage.
The multi-belt provides the drive for the dynamo, the power steering pump, the air conditioning pump and sometimes the water pump. It is often visible on the engine block and is actually a modern version of the V-belt.
How does it work?
The belt, simply put a series of linked V-belts, is driven by the engine's crankshaft and in turn drives a number of components. Thanks to guide rollers, the aggregates are driven in the correct direction of rotation and a belt tensioner ensures that the multi-belt remains at the correct tension. The belt is made of rubber, reinforced by polyester cords.
What causes it to wear out?
Due to age, the belt can harden or show cracks, which is why periodic checking and replacement is a must. The belt can also wear out faster if, for example, the bearings of a tension or guide roller are worn or if the air conditioning pump is running too heavily. This puts extra strain on the belt. If you hear screeching or squeaking noises, or if you just want to be sure that yours does not need replacing, please contact us (078-7878500)
Attention! Do not confuse the multi-belt with the timing belt! The timing belt is protected behind a cover and drives other components.
